BETA TERMS OF USE

Useful rules for a shared AI.

These Terms govern your use of Chime In, an experimental AI assistant operated by Chime In that participates in email conversations.

How Chime In works

When Chime In is added to an email thread, it receives and processes the thread so it can respond to requests directed to it. Responses may be visible to everyone included in the conversation.

Permission to share

Only add Chime In to a conversation if you are authorized to share its contents. If you initiate a thread, you are responsible for making sure the participants understand that an AI service is included. People added to an authorized conversation may interact with Chime In within that conversation, but they are not automatically authorized to start separate conversations.

Do not send sensitive information

Chime In is not designed for:

• Passwords, API keys, authentication codes, or security credentials
• Payment, bank account, government ID, medical, biometric, or genetic information
• Legally privileged material or trade secrets you are not authorized to share
• Information about children or information regulated by HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, or similar laws

AI limitations

Chime In may misunderstand a request or produce incomplete, outdated, or incorrect information. Verify important information before relying on it. Chime In does not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

Acceptable use

Do not use Chime In to violate the law, deceive or impersonate others, harass people, distribute malware, expose private information, send spam, or interfere with the service.

Your content

You retain your rights in content you submit. You give us permission to process that content only as needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of Chime In as described in the Privacy & Security Notice.

Beta availability

Chime In is an early beta. Features may change, fail, or become unavailable. We may restrict or suspend access to protect users, investigate abuse, comply with law, or operate the service safely.

Responsibility

Chime In is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, Chime In is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses caused by reliance on an AI response, interrupted service, or content submitted without authorization.

Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of New York, United States, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Questions may be sent to [email protected].

Changes

We may update these Terms as the beta develops. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date.
